Black Old Navy Customer Gets Accused Of Stealing A Jacket (That He Got For Christmas) And Goes Viral

Stories like this should not happen anymore. But sadly there is a culture of hate being perpetuated by many in this country that feels like a couple steps back. It really seemed like some days pre-Trump America was getting better.

But now, people like James Conley III are once again showing that America needs to be more woke. James was just trying to buy a few items of clothing at Old Navy, I mean who can blame him they have great prices! But after reading this you might not want to support them anymore.

If you look above, that was the face of doubt James had to deal with. I’ll let him tell you how it all started.

He wrote in a Facebook post:

“Today I was racially profiled by the Old Navy store in West Des Moines, Iowa in Jordan creek. I was accused that I didn’t pay for my blue bubble jacket that I got for Christmas that I wore into the store. As I was checking out to purchase some hoodies, I was asked if I wanted to also purchase the jacket that I was wearing. First, I started laughing because I didn’t believe what I was hearing. The store manager Beau Carter was very unprofessional and stereotyped me because I was a Black male.”

Did this guy really think he would get away with this?! Take a look at a video James posted…

Honestly I’m so glad that smartphones are a thing. Just think if MLK had a phone and a vlog, we would be so much more further ahead. James went on to say:

“He says “anytime someone wears Old Navy clothing they have to always scan that customers clothing to insure that it was previously purchased”. (Where do they do that at?) Every time I go to this store I have on my same exact winter blue jacket and have never been asked to scan my clothing and the previous “non-black” customers had on identical apparel as me from old navy but was never asked to scan their clothing. Then after they scan my jacket they try to make me repay for it??”

I’d be livid at this point, so props to James for keeping his cool.

He ended his post with:

“Finally the District Manager Shannon (who refused to give out her last name) came out and I made her check the surveillance tape to prove that her and her fellow employees were in the wrong for racially profiling me because of the color of my skin. Once she confirmed that I was telling the truth (after watching the tape) she never came back out to apologize to me nor did the store manager Beau Carter as you can see in my videos below.”

Good thing the tape was working that day, just think if it wasn’t?! James is going to get the last laugh though. He’s planning on pushing through with a civil damages lawsuit.

Old Navy put out an official statement saying:

Will that be enough for you to go back there? I think I’ve bought my last scarf at Old Navy for awhile.
