Recently, Microsoft Paint finally breathed it’s last breath. It was a sad day for us all, it’s where we all first learned the joys of art on a computer. But the folklore of Microsoft Paint lives on in all computers that were made before this time of sorrow.
If you ever think it’s too late to learn something you are going to get proven wrong by Concha García Zaera. She’s an 87-year-old grandma that is taking the internet by storm.

Now normally a woman her age would be playing bridge or crocheting but Concha is breaking down barriers right and left. Her children gave her a computer and it might have been the best gift ever.

She talked to El Mundo and said:
“My husband fell ill and I had to take care of him, so I couldn’t go out very often. I began painting little things: first, a house, the next day I’d add a mountain…Step by step, I was adding details, and in the end, the result was a very pretty thing.”

I don’t think any of us young folk, any of us that are less than 87 years old, could do such amazing feats in Microsoft Paint!

Where does she get her ideas from?
“I have no imagination at all, so I get inspiration from the postcards that my husband used to send me or drawings that I find and like.”
Well that part about having no imagination is completely false because these images are outstanding. Copying a postcard or not, this is beautiful.

Before she found herself using MS Paint, she painted with oil but she stopped when she had to take care of her husband, who couldn’t handle the smell of paint. The only thing he smells now is the computer burning the midnight oil.

Her family saw her beautiful masterpieces, and knew they needed to be shared with the world!

Concha said that, “I was already on Facebook, but, as my granddaughter says: there are only old people there.” She was correct, so Concha went to Instagram.
She added:
“My phone does not stop ringing. On Friday (March 9), when it all started, I laughed a lot with my grandchildren. We did not know what was happening. I even got a little scared.”

Back then she just had 300 followers, and at this time, she has 109k followers. Yep safe to say she’s gone a bit viral. Don’t think viral meant the same thing back in her day.
She concluded:
“I do not understand very well why my drawings draw so much attention, I think they are very simple things.”
