A previous roommate told me dogs weren’t smart animals. It explains a lot that his dog didn’t listen to him but mine knew all the commands. Dogs are only as smart as their owners and if they have trust behind them, they can do anything.

That is the case for these two beautiful golden retrievers, Bleu and Colby. They look like some of the best good boys out there, and it seems like they are smarter than they look too. They got the best present 15 months ago, a human sister!

Chris Cardinal and his wife had a baby named Chloe and the dogs didn’t know it at the time, but Chloe was going to be their favorite human yet. Chris talked to The Dodo and said:
“Colby was immediately, ‘This is my person.’ Bleu took some warming up. Then he realized she was capable of giving pets.”
And if you can give pets, you can give other things too, which is something the dogs soon figured out. As Chloe grew older, the dogs learned that she was the source to go to for all things food related. If you have ever been around a child in a high chair, you know exactly what I’m talking about.

Golden retrievers are some of the smartest dogs out there, I mean just take a look at Air Bud!
It seemed that the dogs weren’t satisfied with just their droppings from the high chair. They needed MOREEEEE! Chris and his wife found Chloe out of her bed one morning and were unsure of how it happened. Chloe isn’t tall enough to reach her bedroom door knob, and the door had been shut the previous night.

Luckily they had a security camera in Chloe’s room and they reviewed the footage. Check it out for yourself.
Chris went onto say:
“They definitely knew what they were doing. They start getting real hungry around 6 a.m., and instead of barking outside our room, I think they figured they’d try the baby. They’ve snuck into her room before overnight once, but not for breakfast. (At the time, she wasn’t walking yet.) So this is the first time it effected a prison break.”
It seems that the trio was a real life Three Musketeers! The dogs were the instigators and Chloe was the one with the opposable thumbs!

Chris concluded:
“Chloe wakes up every morning and asks to see ‘puppeh.’ She has to go give them their pets each morning. They teach her how to be gentle with animals, socialization, etc. — and also how to get back up when they knock her over, which happens from time to time.”
I guess if you are thinking of having children and you have smart dogs, a video camera in the room is a must have!
