According to her now-deleted blog and Instagram, Meghan Markle is a self-proclaimed foodie. Not only a cook at home, she regularly creates her own recipes and loves testing out new things.
The California native has confessed she loves both cooking everything from pasta to creating her acai bowls. But what exactly is in her diet that gives her that royal glow? Well, not everything she eats is as healthy as you’d think.
10. Cacio e Pepe
According to an old interview, the traditional Italian dish is one of Markle’s favorites because of its simplicity. “It’s so easy!” she once said. Made with black pepper and cheese, it’s a cult favorite amongst many.
9. Macaroni and cheese
Markle loves a good bowl of this childhood favorite — and it doesn’t even have to be homemade!
She revealed, “I now buy the Annie’s organic one if I’m craving it, but I throw some frozen peas into it and have this gooey simple childlike meal. I used to cook it for the kids I would babysit and I always enjoyed feeling like a kid and eating it with them.”
8. Acai Bowl
Acai Bowls “remind” the California native of home.
She created this recipe with blogger Athena Calderone — and it looks amazing.
7. French fries
Markle is a self-proclaimed french fry connoisseur. “It’s its own food group for me,” she once explained to Delish.
When she was living in Canada to film Suits for multiple seasons, she also became a fan of poutine, a Canadian favorite.
6. Turkey Loaf
It’s one of her childhood comfort foods because it’s a dish that her mom regularly created when she was younger. It has a “trinity of flavors,” she once explained.
This turkey loaf recipe is our winter go-to.
5. Other things that “remind” the actress of California sunshine are fish tacos…
4. …and green juices.
3. Ina Garten’s engagement chicken
The infamous recipe is what Meghan created the night Harry proposed! A simple concoction of lemon juice and pepper, the roast has been part of the success stories for many couples.
2. Poached eggs with avocado
It’s one of her breakfast go-tos. “If I’m at a hotel I will likely order poached eggs and toast with avocado,” she exclaimed.
1. Wine
Meghan loves a good glass of vino. She’d rather opt for a “big, beautiful red” instead of dessert. Markle even named her lifestyle blog “The Tig” after her favorite wine, Tignanello.
She said, “The impetus of the name is from a wine called Tignanello. My sip of that wine was my first moment of understanding the nuance people had always described in wine – the tasting notes, the layers. It was such an ah-ha moment, so I took the nickname “Tig” and translated it for all of those moments of getting it.”
