According To A Study, Americans Believe Barack Obama Was The Best President Of All Time

I can just see the tweets now. “Fake study, fake news, yada yada let me see the birth certificate!” Either Trump or his supporters will Tweet that for sure. Too bad they don’t understand that research and science aren’t really that arguable.

Recently a study was put out by the Pew Research Center, you know the group that you always cited in college. If you hadn’t heard of them for some reason, take a look at their mission statement and then try again to say fake news:

“We generate a foundation of facts that enriches the public dialogue and supports sound decision-making. We are nonprofit, nonpartisan and nonadvocacy. We value independence, objectivity, accuracy, rigor, humility, transparency and innovation.”

So the Pew Research Center conducted this survey this past June with just over 2,000 adults. The overall results were in overwhelming support of President Obama. According to the survey:

“When asked which president has done the best job in their lifetimes, more Americans name Barack Obama than any other president. More than four-in-ten (44%) say Obama is the best or second best president of their lifetimes, compared with about a third who mention Bill Clinton (33%) or Ronald Reagan (32%).”

Donald Trump came in fourth in the survey with 19% of Americans thinking he’s the best President ever. Since we aren’t even halfway through his first term ever we might see that number decline.

This is pretty normal though. In 2011, Barack Obama was the best president according to 20% of the people surveyed. Bill Clinton was at 49% and Reagan was at 34%. I guess times have changed and those numbers have flip-flopped a little.

Of course the survey participant’s answers had to do with their age as well. Millennials were more likely to name Obama the best President ever with a resounding 62%. Generation X was still high with Obama supporters with 41% of the vote, but Reagan edged him out slightly with a 45%. Baby Boomers followed suit with 42% for Reagan as well.

Last year Barack was also named the “Most Admired Man In The World” for the tenth year in a row in a Gallup poll (you know another reputable source). That will probably make Trump eat a few more cheeseburgers in stress eating. Surprisingly Trump got second in that poll.

They concluded:

“Obama has now been named the most admired man 10 times, trailing only Dwight Eisenhower, who earned the distinction 12 times. Obama won all eight years he was president, plus 2008 — the year he was first elected — and this year, his first as a former president.”
