Trump Is In Denial About World Leaders Mocking Him At U.N. General Assembly

After much criticism from – well, everyone – President Trump stands by his claim that the world leaders at the United Nations General Assembly were not laughing at him during his address, but with him.

The moments of laughter happened when Trump used his address to humble brag about his “achievements” as president, confidently stating “in less than two years, my administration has accomplished more than almost any administration in the history of our country.”

That being said, if we really want to look back at what previous presidents have done for our country, defeating Nazi Germany, defeating Osama bin Laden and ending slavery are just a few of the massive accomplishments that previous U.S. leaders have remarkably achieved.

And as giggles moved through the audience, Trump paused and responded with a smile, saying: “So true. Didn’t expect that reaction, but that’s OK.”

Cue more laughter and applause.

This past Wednesday in New York at a press conference, Trump disagreed and stated that he was not mocked.

“They weren’t laughing at me, they were laughing with me,” said Trump. “We had fun. That was not laughing at me. The fake news said ‘people laughed at President Trump.’ They didn’t laugh at me. People had a good time with me. We were doing it together. We had a good time. They respect what I’ve done.”

Though it was unclear what exactly in his address was supposed to be funny.

The U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, Nikki Haley said on Wednesday morning that the laughter was because people found Trump’s response truthful and how General Assembly attendees “love to be with him.”

“They loved how honest he is,” Haley said. “It’s not diplomatic and they find it funny. … When he goes and he is very truthful, they kind of were taken back by it.”

As you can imagine, the public was torn about what actually happened. One commenter from the above video shared:

“This is so sad. I love my country. But I am so ashamed. World leaders literally cannot take President Trump seriously. The most powerful man on earth?”

While another user defended the president’s address, saying:

“I watched the entire 32-minute speech. It was a great speech, well delivered. This was a 4-5 second length of the entire speech that only ABC news sorted out depicting negatively about Trump. It’s really sad that the comments that people made about Trump are very negative. You should watch the whole speech to know what he was talking about. It was common sense. After listening to the entire speech I must say this man has a lot of courage to do what he did and he did it for his country.”

And my personal favorite, a user that joked that the whole thing was just propaganda for a tv sequel for the hit tv show, The Office.

Oh my God… He’s Michael Scott from the office… Is this all just an elaborate plotline for a sequel show? “The Oval Office”?

Whether folks were laughing with him or at him, here is a friendly reminder to VOTE.
