“Happy anniversary, @MichelleObama. For 26 years, you’ve been an extraordinary partner, someone who can always make me laugh, and my favorite person to see the world with,” Obama posted to Twitter with a candid photo of Michelle looking out an airplane window.

Okay, that is adorable and now I want a Barack Obama.

Michelle, you are one lucky lady!

Michelle responded quickly, praising her hubby for “26+ years of love, trust and respect” and “for being a man who always lifts up and honors me and our wonderful girls. Each day I’m with you, I’m reminded of what a treasure you truly are to us all,” the post read.

The two were officially wed on October 3, 1992.

This was three years after they met at the Chicago law firm Sidley & Austin.

It was in June of 1989 that Michelle Obama (then, Michelle Robinson) was assigned to mentor Barack, as he worked on a three-month summer associateship.

And the story gets even better…

Michelle actually tried to set up Barack with friends because she did not want to mix work with pleasure, according to a Chicago Sun-Times article from 2007.

But it sounds like someone couldn’t stay away…

Because about half way through the summer, Michelle agreed to go out with Barack when he asked.

What was their very first date?

A classic movie date consisting of Spike Lee’s “Do The Right Thing,” which led to an Art Institute visit and a walk down Michigan Avenue.

Pretty adorable, right?

“It was fantastic,” Michelle said in a 2004 interview regarding their first date. “He was definitely putting on the charm. … It worked. He swept me off my feet.”

Two years later, Obama asked for Michelle’s hand.

When they were dating, Obama talked in depth about how he was hesitant in regards to marriage due to his parent’s divorce.

And when the topic arose during a very fancy dinner, Michelle did not hold back and told Barack it was time to get serious.

Can you guess what happened next?

The waiter brought out dessert with an engagement ring box on the plate.

“He said, ‘That kind of shuts you up, doesn’t it?'” Michelle said.

After five years of marriage, the pair had their first daughter, Malia, in 1998. The firstborn of the former first family is now currently attending Harvard University and is a college sophomore.

Sasha, the couple’s second daughter, was born in 2001.

This past summer, she turned 17 and is currently a senior at Sidwell Friends School in Washington, DC.

Whether you are a fan of the Obamas or not, I think we can all agree — this family is adorable and I believe we all secretly wish they would adopt us.

Right?
