This Couple Comes Home With Newly Adopted Kitten Only To Find An Unexpected Surprise

When this couple went to adopt a kitten — they came home with a big surprise.

That surprise? A second kitten.

Let’s back up a little. The couple had reached out to Happy Jack Cats, Inc. in September.

The Idaho rescue group had plenty of kittens to choose from and the couple was looking forward to adding
a new feline to their home as they already had one cat.

The treasurer of the group, Emily Sullivan, invited the couple to her home where she had been fostering three kittens, all siblings, named Artemis, Hercules and Apollo.

The kittens had been rescued from a farm after their mother was hit by a car.

“We went into my living room, and all three kittens were just running around, playing and being cute,” Sullivan shared with The Dodo. “People like to make a connection with the animal that they’re going to support for the rest of their lives … and they loved Artemis. She was crawling up in their laps.”

The couple decided to adopt Artemis and Sullivan went to grab a cat carrier for them to borrow.

“I put one of their blankets in it, and I put it down on the living room floor, and I was just wandering around to look for Artemis so I could put her in,” Sullivan stated. “It was about 10 o’clock at this time, so it was late. My living room had mood lighting, so it wasn’t very bright in there.”

Sullivan found Artemis, kissed her, and then placed her inside the carrier, closing the door.

“When they went to leave, one of them held up the carrier so I could look inside,” Sullivan shared. “I looked in and I saw Artemis’ face, and I said, ‘Bye, baby. Be a good girl. Live for a long time.’ Then I saw them out the door.”

Soon after, Sullivan received a text from the pair.

“They said, ‘Oh my gosh, she’s been purring up a storm and she’s so happy. She’s just the sweetest little girl,’” Sullivan said to The Dodo.

But once the couple go home, they opened the carrier door and were met with a surprise. Artemis had been purring so much because her brother Hercules has joined in on the ride and as he had black fur, no one had noticed him hiding in the back.

“They called me and said, ‘You’re never going to believe this,’” Sullivan responded. “And I said, ‘What?’ I was worried something happened.”

The couple shared how Hercules snuck into the carrier and Sullivan apologized.

“I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, I’m so sorry. Can we meet tomorrow before work? I’ll get the carrier from you. I’ll meet you halfway, and take the kitten back home,’” Sullivan said.

The couple decided to take care of Hercules just for the night but the next day, the pair changed their minds and called up Sullivan.

“They just said that they loved him [Hercules], that he’s so sweet … and they wanted to adopt him as well if that was OK,” Sullivan shared. “And I was like, ‘Yeah, you betcha.’”

The pair did not expect the scenario to play out the way it did but they are thankful they fell in love with the two kittens.

“They just love the two kittens, and the two kittens love each other, and they’re all getting along with the resident cat that they had before,” Sullivan continued. “It was something they didn’t expect, but they’re very happy about it.”

And in only less than two weeks after his two brothers were adopted, Apollo found his forever home too.

Nothing is more purrrfect than that, folks.
