Demi Lovato fans came to the rescue after social media trolls took to Instagram to body shame the singer’s appearance.
Just Jared, a celebrity gossip site, shared paparazzi photos of the 26-year-old who was on a “coffee run” after she finished a gym session last week in Los Angeles.
The post has accumulated 26K likes as well as thousands of comments. And while most fans were just thankful to see Lovato out from rehab, there were some who were overly critical of her body.
“Eating a lot makes u gain weight and u should stop eating” one Instagram user said.
While another said: “Jeez what happened to her?”
“No way this is her…. or they photoshopped her to look this big….” commented another.
Thankfully, more mature fans backed up Lovato, lifting her up for “getting healthy.”
“My daughter had an overdose 2 years ago. Thank God this girl is alive and so is my daughter because many are not. I love how brave and determined she is. She is beautiful inside and out! Keep it movin’ Demi!! You’re on the right track!” one user shared.
“She looks amazing, in all ways. It’s a shame, that people don’t accept this. She’s an Idol!!!” said another.
“Leave her alone! She’s beautiful and is battling some hard demons. She doesn’t need people saying the most cruel things. She has more talent in her pinky than all you haters! Get a life. Pulling for you Demi!!” one user rallied.
This past August, Lovato went to rehab after a two-week hospitalization after almost dying from a drug overdose.
“We just didn’t know … if she was going to make it or not,” Dianna De La Garza, Lovato’s mom, shared with NewsMax TV. “I was very concerned, and I was trying to be strong for her.”
Lovato has always been transparent when it comes to sharing her personal battle with mental health as well as addiction.
She has shared her mental health hurdles along with drug and alcohol challenges during concerts, award shows as well as social media.
She even filmed a YouTube documentary about her journey towards sobriety.
Two weeks after her overdose, the singer posted to Instagram thanking her fans for their concern and support.
“I have always been transparent about my journey with addiction. What I’ve learned is that this illness is not something that disappears or fades with time. It is something I must continue to overcome and have not done yet,” she wrote. “I want to thank God for keeping me alive and well. To my fans, I am forever grateful for all of your love and support throughout this past week and beyond. Your positive thoughts and prayers have helped me navigate through this difficult time.”
For the first time in a while, Lovato posted to social media last week to encourage folks to vote on Election Day.
We love you Demi! We support you in this transitionary time and are sending you good vibes! You are an inspiration to many and we believe in you!
