This past Wednesday, one blind man by the name of Donald Nixon claimed he wanted to read Playboy for the articles — but was unable to.
Nixon is legally blind and has recently filed a lawsuit against the company’s website.
He claims it was in violation of the American with Disabilities Act, according to TMZ.

Nixon’s screen-reading software is not compatible with Playboy.com as well as Playboyshop.com — according to Nixon.
According to the American Foundation for the Blind, the screen-reading software allows those who are blind or visually impaired to read the text with a speech synthesizer or braille display.
Nixon argues that folks who are visually impaired could not “fully and equally use or enjoy the facilities, products and services.” in court documents obtained by TMZ.
Nixon hopes to make the Playboy website more accessible for those who are blind and is suing the company as such for not standing in accordance with the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) for unspecified damages.
The ADA since 1990 has protected those with disabilities against discrimination.
According to the ADA National Network website, this includes school, employment as well as private places.
The Association of Corporate Counsel says that anyone who violates this policy could be charged over $100,000 in fines.
Six days ago, Playboy’s Instagram posted a photo of braille woman with the caption:
“We are often so programmed to think about sexuality as being conveyed through the eyes, that the idea of a blind or visually impaired person even having sexual thoughts seems surprising.”
The post encouraged its followers to learn more about the sexual urges of those who are blind.
Some folks commented supportive and kind words, encouraging others to read the article and saying how beautiful it was.
Others were not as kind — questioning what the point was as well as saying they did not understand why it was a priority in the first place.
A few commented on how they believed sex as a blind person may be superior to those who are able to see.
This could be due to the phenomenon where if you are without one sense, your remaining senses are therefore heightened.
Currently, despite the discrimination, Hugh Hefner’s belongings – the founder of Playboy- have been auctioned off.
Hefner’s belongings were previously up for sale in a two-day auction by Julien’s on November 30th.
This included his black silk pajamas, red smoking jacket, as well as white captain’s hat — his iconic ensemble.
Established in 1964 to advocate for civil liberties and rights, all the proceeds from the auction will head straight to The Hugh M. Hefner Foundation.
Hefner’s pipe, as well as his magazines, an original Playboy Club key, his Hollywood Walk of Fame Star from the mansion as well as his Playboy logo cufflinks, will all be for sale.
