This Woman Adopts Dog From Shelter, Has No Idea It Was Actually Her Childhood Pet

Nicole Grimes, hailing from Pennsylvania, decided to look for a dog and while scrolling through Facebook — she saw plenty that were up for adoption in her area.

One Pomeranian-poodle caught her eye and it reminded Nicole of her very-similar looking, childhood dog named Chloe.

At age 10, Nicole’s grandmother gifted her Chloe as a surprise — and the two became inseparable ever since.

And the following four years were perfect.

That is, until Nicole’s dad got a new job which required him to work from home without any distractions — the now grown Nicole shared with BBC.

It was then that she knew it was time to give Chloe up.

Her dad drove Nicole to the Washington Area Humane Society to drop off Chloe for the last time.

“I was 10 years old and all I wanted was a puppy. She was wearing a pink bow when Nana gave her to me. We were best friends. My dad got a new job working from home but Chloe was too yappy and he had to be on the phone all the time. I remember my dad picked me up from school when I was 14 with the dog in the back seat. I knew we had to give her away.” Nicole recalled.

And while Nicole was very upset, she would call the Humane Society regularly despite their inability to give updates.

But fate had a soft spot for the two childhood friends.

When Nicole went to pick up the dog she saw was up for adoption online, she soon discovered that the 11-year-old dog was also named Chloe.

And when Nicole was met with Chloe, she had a feeling that this was the very same dog she first fell in love with as a child.

“When I found out they were both called Chloe it was really strange. It just clicked when she was introduced to me as Chloe. When she was dropped off she came running up to me and was licking my face. Then I knew in my heart that she had to be the same dog.” Nicole shared.

Both Nicole and her husband checked the microchip on the dog and it was confirmed that both Nicole and Chloe had finally been reunited after seven years away from each other.

Nicole could not believe what was happening and was filled to the brim with happiness.

Chloe has picked up right back where she left off and is forming a friendship with Nicole’s daughter, Violet.

Nicole shared:

“She is a little smaller and has no teeth, but she still loves to run around. They love to play with each other. Chloe is very gentle with Violet and it warms my heart to see them together.

I felt like I won the lottery. I never thought I’d see her again.”

Nicole discovered that during their seven year gap, Chloe lived with an elderly couple until they passed away.

Well doggone, miracles do happen!
