It’s not an issue that’s widely discussed, but hair loss often plagues not only men, but women as well. To be exact, nearly 40% of women have ‘visible’ hair loss by the time they’ve reached 40.

Most people lose between 50-100 hairs per day. However, if you’re losing more, it may be a sign of something more serious.

For example, there might be a problem with your hair cycle. Normally, your scalp has nearly 100,000 hairs, which fall out when the next hair cycle starts. But, sometimes if your hair is falling out in clumps, it might be time to get it checked out.

Doctors may decide to measure your hair loss. The Savin scale, which ranges in normal hair to balding, can be used to determine severity. If you’re diagnosed with androgenic alopecia, just know you’re not alone — nearly 30 million American women are affected by it.



There may be a slew of reasons as to why your hair may fall out. Stress, overuse of products, birth control, prescription drugs and poor diet are just a few of the common reasons. Among other causes may be high hormone levels during childbirth and deficiency in iron and Vitamin A and menopause.

One of the more popular medicines prescribed to slow down and eventually stop hair loss is Minoxidil. Another option is laser treatment or better quality products.
