One glowing bride took the cake for most creative wedding toast when she stood in front of her guests to tell her groom he was going to be a father.
Weddings are already a time of great celebration and joy — but one bride decided to make her special day to the next level for her groom.
When Jamie Forbes toasted to her groom, Charlie, at their reception in Isle of Palms, S.C., hearts fluttered.
The bride gave her groom a gift box before going into her speech, in a precious moment caught on video.
“I didn’t fall in love with you. I walked in love with you, eyes wide open, knowing exactly what I was looking for,” Jamie told Charlie. “From the moment you left work to come push my stranded car I knew you were the one I wanted in my corner forever.” She went on saying, “Please accept this gift — it is the most precious thing I will give you and I hope it makes you as happy as you’ve made me.”
Charlie can be seen then opening the box and with no words.
Inside the box? A framed sonogram.
“I’m two months pregnant!” Jamie then said.
“It was the shock of a lifetime, but a good shock,” Charlie told WCNC.
But what made the wedding as well as the surprise birth announcement so special was the fact that a year prior — Jamie was confident she would not get married or have children.
After “so many bad dates,” she shared with WCNC, “I couldn’t find anyone that wouldn’t be like settling.” Enter Charlie in March whom she met on the dating site Match.com — fast forward to September and the two became engaged.
“Our courtship has been kind of a whirlwind — pretty quickly we knew,” Jamie said in regards to Charlie, who also added, “I knew she was the one.”
Both Jamie and Charlie decided to have a destination wedding that was “really simple. I figured why not do it now, why wait,” Jamie shared.
They were married in front of family and friends, including a bridal party which consisted of their dog Izzy who additionally served as their flower girl.
According to WCNC, the couple knew they wanted to start a family right away and did not want to wait.
“Because I’m in my 30s, we’re both in our 30s, we thought maybe it would take a year,” Jamie shared.
But either party did not expect for life to move as fast as it did — so when Jamie discovered she was expecting, she waited for the perfect moment to share with her now-husband.
“The morning I took the test, of course I wanted to go scream and wake him up,” Jamie said.
But she decided to keep the good news for a month so the reveal would be captured in front of many.
“It was so hard, probably the hardest thing I’ve ever done,” she shared with WCNC. “I just thought it would be so special and unique, and now we have it on video.”
And Charlie was so happy that she decided to record the special moment.
“I tear up every time I see it,” he said. “It’s the best gift I could have possibly received, so, it’s amazing.”
The couple decided to pick a name that is close to both of their hearts.
In honor of Jamie’s late younger sister, the couple will name their daughter Jillian, after her.
Jamie’s sister had died almost two years ago due to a rare cancer.
“Last year I was actually very depressed,” Jamie shared “It was my first Christmas without my sister, I was single.”
But Jamie says that this Christmas was “one of the best of my life.”
