A new six-minute documentary showcases the incredible works of a modern artist. You might know him — his name is Jim Carrey.
The 55-year-old actor, who has largely stepped away from the spotlight in recent years, has quietly been harnessing a special talent: Carrey is a remarkable painter, and his art has taken the internet by total surprise.
“I Need Color” in just two weeks time had already racked up 2.4 million views. Carrey explains that he dove into painting about six years ago in an effort to “heal a broken heart.”

“I think what makes someone an artist is they make models of their inner life,” Carrey says in the video. “They make something physically come into being that is inspired by their emotions, or their needs, or what they feel the audience needs.”
Within some of Carrey’s paintings are “a darkness,” he says, and reflections of his own desires and experiences.
