If you had to guess Trump’s defining trait, could you pin point what it was?
And while there are many words folks have used lately to describe the current commander in chief [i.e. selfish, a mad genius, a narcissist, a pathological liar, the best president ever, etc.] the one that I believe sums up Trump the best, would be the word ‘vanity’.
Vanity, according to the Merriam Webster dictionary is described as “the inflated pride for oneself or one’s appearance.”

And speaking of one’s appearance, Trump has a few key iconic ‘looks’ most can recognize him by— including his thin, wispy, corn-colored hair as well, his Kardashian-orange hue and —- of course, his small hands.
Spy magazine’s journalist Graydon Carter has noted Trump as a “short-finger vulgarian” back in the 80s — to which Trump replied by sending in photos of his hands to editors with a note reading, “See, not so short.”
“To this day, I receive the occasional envelope from Trump,” Carter shared in 2015, prior to Trump winning the presidency. “There is always a photo of him—generally a tear sheet from a magazine. On all of them he has circled his hand in gold Sharpie in a valiant effort to highlight the length of his fingers. I almost feel sorry for the poor fellow because, to me, the fingers still look abnormally stubby.”
EEEK!
But the vanity did not stop in the 80s — oh no.
According to Gizmodo, “at least three different retouched photos” have popped up on Trump’s official Facebook and Instagram pages that make him appear fitter since October 2018.
The professionals at Gizmodo were able to find that Trump was being photoshopped to look slimmer and his fingers were edited to appear longer when they compared the photos to the original images on the official White House Flickr page.
Here is one of the original photos that has been photoshopped:

And here is the edited photo:

Nothing to see here, right?
Nope!
Zoom in and you will see exactly what people are talking about…
This is before:

And this is after:

The fingers grew an inch. Hm. Does that happen?
Alp Beck was the first to discover the editing and posted his findings to Twitter in the form of a GIPH.
And yes, the comments via Twitter were brutal — with folks saying:
“Glad this wasn’t a summer beach picture…”
“Trump, who loves to cry “Fake news!,” is doctoring photos to make himself look thinner, smoother, and . . . longer-finger-ered”
“Also, take a look at his shoulders, belt position and thigh gap.”
“Of course Trump is editing his photos to make himself appear thinner, and make his fingers look longer.”
“He makes his tiny baby hands look bigger, OMG!”
And believe it or not, that is not the only photo of Trump that has been altered and posted to social media.
On Trump’s official Facebook page, there is also the a graphic that was posted on October 3, 2018.
People noticed that the president’s face looked…..odd. And they were right.
The original photo (pictured here) has been edited (pictured below) in a variety of ways.

Trump’s jacket has been edited to be smaller underneath his right arm, the shoulder pad in his suit has been smoothed out and a few stray hairs have been removed.
But the best part?
The photo makes Trump’s finger a bit longer.
I think it’s safe to say, fingers are a sore subject for Trump..
