It’s that time of year again…
Where everything is cold, dark and dreary.
Which makes you start thinking about summer and where you will #vacay to.
And if you are still not sure on where you are headed to this summer, we have a proposition for you.
How does getting paid to stay in Italy sound?

Airbnb is offering a lucky few to go and live in Italy for three months.
AND YOU WILL GET PAID FOR IT.
Four people exactly will be shipped over to the countryside to reside in the quaint hillside village of Grottole — where they will learn the language as well as take cooking classes.
The website hopes that it will help breathe life into the community as well as bring tourists back to the village — which needs help as there are 600 empty homes and only 300 inhabitants.

The town is currently “at risk of disappearing.”
It says:
“Escape the hustle and bustle of the city and become a temporary citizen of a village in the south of Italy. Immerse yourself in the local culture and discover how to speak, act and cook the Italian way. You will also get to support the local community by hosting an Airbnb Experience. Your goal? To help the local community revitalize the small village of Grottole.”

“Airbnb is sponsoring a unique opportunity for four people to move to the small village of Grottole for three months and experience authentic rural life in Italy. Selected candidates will become temporary citizens of the village and will volunteer for a local non-profit organization called ‘Wonder Grottole’ whose aim is to revitalize the town’s historical center.”
You are probably thinking — okay, that’s great but what is there to do in a small village for three months?
Grottole boasts castles that date back to 10th century, a bee farm and lots of pasta and wine.
Founder of Wonder Grottole, Silvio Donadio, shares:
“Our dream is to repopulate the historical center.”

“In 10 years we’d like to see the village full of people from different cultures perfectly integrated with the local community.”
The chosen group who get to snag this life changing trip will stay in the village from June to August.
Which means, applications are due by midnight on February, 17th.
And let’s not forget the amazing hosts you will meet along the way.
Airbnb shares how you will meet Rocco, Vincenzo, Rosa and Andrea.
Rocco is a hairstylist, beekeeper as well as saffron producer, while Vincenzo is an olive oil producer.

But that’s not all — you will also meet the best cook in town, Rosa, who will teach you how to prepare Italian dishes.
And last but certainly not least, you will meet Andrea — the Founder of Wonder Grottole.
You will be able to visit the local community center to help him with his project as well as discover what he is doing to help revamp the town’s historical center.
