What is the most embarrassing thing that could happen to you right now?
What about being covered in peanut butter and sent to your local dog park?
For Steven Shrout, this is exactly what happened to him — and yes, he was wearing creamy peanut butter for the record.
Clinton Butler was at a Texas dog park with his dog when he, along with a few other dog owners, witnessed an unknown figure coming forward.
What was it exactly?
Shrout, in his underwear, covered in peanut butter towards the dog-playing area.
“My first thought was, ‘WTF is this?'” Butler shared with The Dodo. “My mind went a few places before I really knew what was going on.”
While Butler, along with the dogs, were skeptical — it was made apparent that the peanut-butter-covered Shrout did not mean any harm.
“He was very cordial with the dogs and seemed a little remorseful,” Butler said. “I think he was sort of embarrassed.”
Butler took a photo of the odd interaction, which later went viral.
The caption underneath the photo read:
“This man just showed up to the deep ellum dog park covered head to toe in creamy peanut butter wearing only gold lamé undies…said he lost a bet…”
The bizarre visit only lasted a few minutes and the dogs were just as confused as their owners.
So why exactly did he do that?
After losing a bet, Shrout explains:
“Me and some buddies play fantasy football. It was my first year. I got dead last,” Shrout shared with The Dodo. “They came up with the craziest thing ever for the loser. It was absolutely ridiculous. They said I wouldn’t do it, but I did it. It was the most embarrassing moment of my life. Guaranteed.”
Shrout says that he was not very comfortable in the situation, describing it as the “weirdest thing ever.”
The highlight of the whole incident?
Adorable pups of course.
“I love dogs — but not, like, in a weird way,” he said.
“They just ended up licking me,” he said.
Shrout said that the stunt would reconsider his participation in next year’s fantasy football league should he lose once more — possibly having to cover himself in peanut butter again.
“I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone,” Shrout said.
The internet went wild, with folks saying:
“Heard about this on the radio on Friday. He placed dead last in his fantasy football league. He could either pay the winner $250, or do this!”
“Wow..that’s a horrible bet to lose. I would have grabbed my baby and left- quickly!!”
“Did not lose a bet.”
“That’s hilarious and disgusting at the same time.”
“All fun and games till one of those dogs bites him lol”
“That guy seems a little nutty to me.”
“Better than shaving off an eyebrow.”
“Funny and weird at the same time. Even though I would most likely smile and watch I would certainly NOT let my dog lick that man.”
