After living on the street for nine years, a man has recently found a home as well as a job after one teen spotted his note posted next to a bus stop.
In his note, Anthony Johnson’s described how he was in search of a job “to make life worth living”.
Charlotte Howard, 16, saw the note and decided to share it via social media.

So far, she has raised over £1,000 ($1,306.60) as well as found a caravan for Mr. Johnson.
But that is not all.
She has also found him a job as a handyman.
Charlotte shared how when she first saw Anthony’s note at a bus stop directly near his tent, it “broke her heart.”
“I will do a trial for free to show how I work. I don’t take drugs or drink.” Mr. Johnson’s note read.

“I will also do dog walking/minding, window cleaning, shopping, gardening, car valeting/washing, housework, cooking..
“Anything to earn a living and make life seem worth living.”
Charlotte then posted the note online, asking for donations:
“There is a caravan for sale and it cost £100 ($130.66) the goal is £300 ($391.98) as it needs some work done.”
“Everyone deserves a home.” Charlotte said to BBC Sussex.
Additionally, she shared how the caravan was donated to Mr. Johnson and now a local homeless charity is attempting to find a permanent spot for it.
Juliet Kelly from the Hastings charity Warming Up the Homeless, shared:
“I’ve just been there to advise her, and try and let Anthony know what’s going on.”

“I was worried he might be a bit overwhelmed by it, but he’s loving it.”
After viewing Charlotte’s appeal, Nelson Smith gave Mr. Johnson a job and now the two are working to construct a handyman business.
“Getting a job is about having something to do rather than rotting away on a bench. It’s about having something in your life.” Mr. Johnson shared with the Hastings Observer.
“I wasn’t expecting all this from a couple of [online] shares.” Charlotte admitted.
“Warming Up The Homeless helps people without a home, one meal, hot drink or change of clothes at a time. You can help by donating money, clothes, food or your time.” according to the Warming Up The Homeless website.
If you are interested in helping the homeless, there are a few things you can start to do in your own community.

The first step is to educate yourself as there are a handful of reasons as to why someone becomes homeless, whether it is due to a lack of affordable housing, loss of a job, divorce, illness, substance abuse or domestic abuse.
The second step you can take in helping a homeless person is showing them respect. Many people who are homeless share how the loss of dignity that accompanies their situation is harder to experience than the actual loss of physical things.
And last but certainly not least, a third step you can take to help the homeless is to donate shoes or food as non-perishable items are always in short supply at food pantries and homeless shelters.
