Simon was not too interested in making paw pals as the orange tabby had plenty of friends at the cat cafe Crumbs & Whiskers in Los Angeles.
“He’s definitely used to other animals,” Simon’s mom, Mackenzie Coffman, shared with The Dodo, “but never really played with the other cats in the café.”
But that changed when Simon saw his neighbor cat across the street.

“I was in bed and I woke up to Simon whining at the window,” Coffman said. “I looked up and to my surprise saw a cat sitting in my neighbor’s window. I’ve lived in this apartment for two years and have never seen their cat.”
Simon was taken with this mystery cat but it was not clear if the neighbor cat had the same feelings.
But that did not stop Simon from attempting to get the cat’s attention.
“The other cat never really looked at Simon or paid attention to him,” Coffman said. “So Simon would jump up and down in the windowsill to try to get his attention.”
Coffman had never seen Simon act this desperate before and decided to play wing man for her captivated pet.
Coffman jokingly taped up a little sign on her window — inspired by the Taylor Swift music video “You Belong With Me.”

Not too long after, the neighbors then hung up their own sign in response — and Coffman soon discovered that Simon’s love had gone by the wayside.
“They opened the window, introduced themselves, and I told them that Simon always waits for Theo,” Coffman said. “They said they always see Simon but didn’t know what to call him so they’ve been calling him Chester.”
Simon’s infatuation with Theo has only grown since the exchange of signs but Theo continues to play hard to get.

“When Simon sees Theo he chirps at the window and paces the windowsill,” Coffman said. “Theo, on the other hand, glances at Simon maybe twice and then continues to look in the opposite direction.”
On Monday, Coffman then shared her cat’s love story to Twitter, posting:
“My cat Simon is in LOVE with my neighbor’s cat and waits all day for him. Will keep y’all updated.”
After just two days, her post received over 200,00 likes and 100,000 retweets.

The huge response led Coffman to post another sign — this time telling Theo that their relationship went viral.
Theo wrote back and the two are now friends on Twitter.
Now after weeks of looking through a window — Simon will now finally be able to meet the love of his nine lives.
The two then met and despite a few hisses and butt sniffs — their love may need a little more growing to do…
“Simon is being a little aggressive with his flirting.” Coffman posted along with a few videos of their meeting.

“Simon is following Theo around like a puppy, Theo is a little nervous as cats can be in new environments.”

“The cat moms behind it all.”

Reunited and it feels so good!
