Graduating class loses it after dog walks in on ceremony

For the senior class at Horseshoe Bend School in Alabama, graduation day for a senior class was pretty standard stuff earlier this month.

But for a few moments – the students were surprised by someone who stole the show.

Enter Charlie.

A dog.

Charlie, who belongs to a Logan Branch, is a grad who lives nearby.

And during the academic year, Charlie would often wander over to the school on his own to visit with students during their breaks.

He quickly found a way into everyone’s hearts (of course.)

“Every one at the school knows he is my dog,” Branch told The Dodo.

But with the school year coming to a close – Charlie decided to leave his mark in a different way.

And how you ask?

Oh, in the very middle of a graduation ceremony for Branch and his peers.

“Nobody had any clue at all that he would be there,” Branch said. “He came inside the gate and just surprised all of us.”

But the doggo was not the only surprise of the day. After a few moments, with the students doing their best to keep it together Charlie decided to relive himself on a decorative fern.

And everyone lost it.

“As soon as we saw him walk to the plant, we all knew what was about to happen so we couldn’t help but all laugh,” Branch said.

That being said, Charlie’s owner still was a little embarrassed to say the least.

The ceremony continued (the show must go on) but no one was able to top Charlie’s appearance.

“He definitely got the best crowd reaction of the night,” Branch shared “Charlie definitely loved it.”

While Branch and the other graduates will be moving on to chart out the next stage of their lives — Charlie will continue to be a positive presences on campus as Branch’s sister still attends the school.

“He just loves attention and being around people,” Branch said.
