Disturbing footage has recently gone viral showing a massive snake regurgitating the corpse of a dog it had consumed.

That being said…

The footage was taken in a forest in India by a stunned group of wildlife enthusiasts that were on a rescue mission in Udaipur, Rajasthan.

As they were passing through, they noticed a rock python that measured up to 13 feet long that had apparently just eaten something.

As they watched the snake, it began to puke up the dog which is something that snakes I guess do when they feel like a predator is nearby or they are under stress (i.e. or me right before I do anything that requires exertion.)

The man who captured the moment shared:

“On Wednesday morning, we were going on a rescue and on the way we saw some people disturbing a four-metre long Indian Rock Python that had eaten something.”

“As we reached closer to the reptile, it was spilling out the kill which was a street dog.”

He continued on, saying:

“Python takes almost half an hour to swallow and they can swallow the prey more than its diameter because the jaw bones are not connected. But they regurgitate when they eat something they put all their energy in swallowing the food and sense a predator is nearby. By regurgitating the prey as soon as possible, the reptiles collect the energy and move away.”

Wildlife experts believe that snakes are reacting to deforestation changing their eating habits which means that more mammals are in danger.

The man who recorded the footage shared:

“There have been several cases of python preying on goats and dogs in the recent past in Indian villages and snake experts believe the excessive deforestation is leading to serious imbalance in local ecological system forcing the reptiles and other wild animals to come closer to human habitat.”
