One mother of three, Shaketha Marion McGregor, is thinking outside the box when it comes to teaching her little ones an important life-lesson about earning their own money.

How you ask? By creating a hiring event where her kids applied for “jobs” around the house — earning their allowance just like adults.

“My children continue to ask for a new cell phone, an allowance, and to go places,” Shaketha wrote on Facebook. “If you want it, work for it, earn it!”

The post received over 213,000 likes, and 35,000 plus comments, and was shared 130,000 times as of earlier this month.

Of the jobs available, there were kitchen manager, lead housekeeper as well as laundry supervisor.

Shaketha’s three children, two daughters, Serenity, 6, and Takeia, 10, as well as one son, Jahkeem, 13.

According to Psychology Today, chores are major positives in children’s lives including learning how to tasks from an early age, learning the importance of doing their bit for the family as well as elevated happiness by helping loved ones.
