Miss Universe 2019 has a message for children that is beyond powerful

This year’s Miss Universe competition was held on December 8, 2019, at Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta, Georgia, where we saw a total of 3 contestants from Mexico, Puerto Rico and South Africa in the final.

After the 2nd Runner Up was announced, Sofía Aragón, everyone was impatient to hear who would hold this year’s Miss Universe title, Madison Anderson or Zozibini Tunzi.

And the crown went to South Africa!

Zozibini Tunzi stated after her win the following:

“I grew up in a world where a woman who looks like me, with my kind of skin and my kind of hair, was never considered to be beautiful. I think it is time that that stops today. I want children to look at me and see my face and I want them to see their faces reflected in mine.”
