Charges have been filed against a man authorities who fatally shot a pregnant woman in front of her two small children inside an Alabama grocery store.
Michael Mitchell, 39, faces three counts of capital murder for allegedly shooting 28-year-old Lavon McCreary to death on December 2 at the grocery store, Pic-N-Sav.
McCreary was currently pregnant and close to delivering her third child.
“She was a great person,” Lacedric Goldman, McCreary’s cousin, shared. “Every time you see her, she’s smiling — beautiful soul, inside and out.…Every time you see her, she’s smiling.”
A motive for the killing is currently being investigated.
Mitchell is the father of the McCreary’s two children. The family would not discuss the status of their relationship when the killing occurred.
It was unclear who the fetus’s father was at the time of death.
