It was years before a Texas mother decided she would find a Santa her kids could relate to and so she decided she would help other parents find Black Santas.
Dallas Psychiatrist Jihan Woods decided to launch a Kickstarter campaign for her app, “Find Black Santa.”

Woods was able to raise $5,000 in just 30 days which she used to create a Black Santa locator so she could connect with a Santa that represented her family.
“I really wanted my children to see a Santa Claus that looks like them,” Woods shared on the app’s website. “It’s important to me that they experience diversity in all aspects of their lives, Santa included.”
The app officially launched in this time last year and lists Black Santas across 35 states in the U.S. as well as Washington D.C.
