I like to stay away from the political news that turns my heart into a bag of used charcoal. Instead I like to focus on the feel good stories that make me forget about all that nonsense. That’s when Barack Obama and Joe Biden meet up it’s a celebration of what used to be. For a moment, what used to be was right now inside Dog Tag Bakery which is located in Washington D.C.
The former President and Vice President were seen this past Monday, July 30th, and everyone loved it. Located in the Georegtown Section of DC, the duo ate lunch with service-disabled veterans, military spouses, and caregivers. The bakery was in the middle of their fellowship program which feeds all these amazing human beings.
Barack letting that chest hair flow with the bottom TWO buttons off, you know people think he’s the most loved President ever right?
Amanda Ogilvie who is the chief executive at the bakery told The Washington Post:
“I’m a little bit awestruck. They shook every fellow’s hand, hugged them and listened to their stories. It was just a phenomenal scene.”
Apparently Ogilvie only had six minutes to prepare the place for the former president and vice president! That’s how much time the secret service gave her to get ready for the most amazing moment of her bakery’s existence.
The program helps the people involved with getting a certificate of business administration through Georgetown University’s School of Continuing Studies.
Tell me one of these Biden/Obama combo hugs doesn’t look like one of the best embraces ever!
The real question though, is what did they get to eat? They both at a ham and gruyere sandwich and then Obama stayed on the healthy side with a side salad while Joe (we are all Joe right?) got a delicious sounding mint basil blueberry cake for dessert. You can hear Obama say, “Joe’s Paying!”
Ahh, life is good when this team is around!
Now if that wasn’t enough Obama love for you, take a look at what this ex-Obama secret service member had to say when the cameras weren’t rolling…
Back in 2007 and 2008 politics were a less tricky time. Gas was under $2.00 and we were all still amazed by the first Transformers movie. It was even a time when Shia Labeouf hadn’t gone crazy. Well it was also when Jason Wells was a US Secret Service Special Agent for Barack Obama. It was pre-Presidency, while Obama was a US Senator.
Wells is a writer now and was recently replying to a question on Quora that asks, ‘Is Barack Obama a nice person when there isn’t a camera around?’ Wells didn’t hold back…
He wrote:
“During my tenure with the U.S. Secret Service, I was part of (then) Senator Barack Obama’s protection detail from March 2007 until November 2008, on his election night.
I was chosen as part of a ’round robin’ detail where agents were selected at random from their field offices to spend time with a candidate on the campaign trail to keep him safe.”
“This protection detail is known as C.N.O.S. (Campaign Nominee Operation Section) and is basically the rotation that the U.S. Secret Service goes through during the Election season.
Sen. Obama was given protection unusually early due to the volume of threats that he was receiving.
The rotation consisted of being out on the road with him 24/7 for three week intervals, home for six weeks, and then back out again. It was like this for 18 months.”
This was before his Presidency, just think what the Secret Service was like after that!
He went onto say:
“I made it a point to remain unbiased in my political opinions when asked about Mr. Obama while on this assignment. I also tend to judge others by how they treat me rather than how they expect to be treated.
I will say that, personally, I have differed on many of President Obama’s stances in politics. I do not support much of his political agenda.
With that stated… Senator Obama, Mrs. Obama and their two daughters were always extremely cordial and appreciative for everything that we provided them.”
“They were engaging with us, asking us about our families and making sure that we were provided for.
On numerous occasions, Mr. Obama would ask me how my wife was doing (she was pregnant with our first child), and wished her the best.
I never, never saw him belittle another person, I never witnessed him do anything behind his wife’s back… For all of my political differences with Barack Obama, I will be the first to say that he is a very decent man.”
No matter what your politics are, we can say for a fact that Obama never tweeted about fake news 240 times as President…
